Why Edward R. Murrow?

No... the pic is not me. Edward R. Murrow was the first real Superman of media. He not only believed in truth, justice but holding government and politicians accountable for their actions and statements. Murrow was also a critic of the media that made him. He could see the advantages and the abuses that the medium of television could bring. Fortunatly for us, he focused on the positives televison can do as he fought his own management to do so. I thought he was the perfect symbol of what was possible with vision and imagionation. Fortunate for Erie, we had those same kind of visionaires in Erie broadcasting in the likes of Myron Jones and Ed Lamb. "Where have all the flowers gone" in broadcasting today?

Threats will get you no where.. The management has already done severe damage to some very good people that used to work for WSEE. Also management may have already made threats to staff that could be reported to authorities as harassment. Employees of WSEE have more to fear from their own management. Nothing will be published other than what had been made public or indicated as opinion. I at least put my name on it. Sounds some of you are to scared. WSEE has until Sept 1st to get their digital on the air. And please remember that airwaves still belong to the people...even if they have been put into some very incompetent hands at the moment. Will WSEE ask for another extension? Will the FCC be so foolish as to grant it? It is not snowing now. I want nothing more than for all stations to be successful in responsible hands so that both employee's and responsible broadcasters can profit.

I'm confused by these comments. I didn't see anything in the original post about a local network going broke.

BTW: False information meant to defame or cause an unjustly negative opinion in written form is libel, not slander. Slander may only be oral. I didn't read anything libelous here. Not in the original post anyway.

eden.... I think they are reading into it more than I wrote.

All this just from talking about Edward R. Murrow? Really.

The purpose of this blog is not to attack any station or persons at a station. It is to educate The FCC will do or not do what it has to do. But this I do know, that they are firmly committed to the transition sooner rather than later.

Thanks Radiolave. That's pbrtv.com. Thansk for the providing me and others a good read. I intend to visit your site.

In time you see and know all. Keep in mind that you brought it on yourself with your own posts. Do you think for one minute that my little post about Edward R. Murrow would gain that attention? No, my friend, it was yours and others. For a news operation you have no idea about manageing your own PR. You brought the attention on yourself and the station. You only have your own misdirection to blame. I couldn't have done it without your help.

Losing money is NOT the same as "going broke". It all depends on how deep your pockets are. If you have evidence of the station closing, then post it. If not I would advise you to tread very carefully on this subject.

Gosh I am trying to found out where I said any station is going broke? I have no such knowlege...do you? Erie media and technology is a big area and will take a long time to cover. I plan to put one new posting up a day. As I said in my description it will take a critical look and also praise media that I think move in the right direction. I am shareing my opinion. (that's my right). You can also share yours. Can't cover the entire topic in 24 hours. Sorry Charlie!
