Congress passed a law on February 1, 2006, setting a final deadline for the DTV transition of February 17, 2009. Most television stations will continue broadcasting both analog and digital programming until February 17, 2009, when all analog broadcasting will stop.." FCC http://www.dtv.gov/

Well, given the mainly abysmal choices offered by network/local TV, I can't see spending that much money to see these same shows in Hi-def. "According To Jim" is still junk...hi-def or not.

However, the nice thing about electronics is that the prices always come down in time...look at digital cameras as an example. So I'll just wait till I have no choice but to go hi-def. By then, the prices will be more reasonable. I can only hope that the quality of the programming improves by then.

Jim...you mean that "Monster Garage" is not compelling television in HD?

You are so outa touch with consumers, and especially Erie consumers. Man, even a $98 special at Wallyworld is too much for my budget right now AND I WORK IN TV! Get off you camel and write about something else like the quality of the programing or the news broadcasts. I am very glad that YOU can afford one of those $1000 tvs, I sure as hell cant!
