Breaking News! Solo Bites The Wolf On Tuesday!

Shannon Solo finds love and happiness with modern country.

The New Year brings many changes in the air, but the first we heard about was at The Wolf at 93.9 FM.

Shannon Solo hits the Wolf den starting this Tuesday in morning drive. As a country singer and songwriter, Shannon feels home at last. He is more than a “little bit country” and promises to show it live with his own variety of fun including celebrity interviews and his classic, "Coffee Break Trivia."

I am the first to say that country is not my first format of choice, but after listening to The Wolf since it started, I am appreciating the newer artists and music better.

Kenny Olowin was my country music teacher and made it possible for me to interview and photograph several legends in Country Music such as Dolly Parton when she was just 22. (One of my prize photos that I just had signed a few years back was of Dolly herself on her last performance in Erie)

Solo has a lot going on right now with this new gig. It should be very interesting how he handle’s this juggling act between radio, performing, writing music and weekend weather on WICU.

That's huge! So who is the new mid-day jock on Froggy? Shannon's been there a long time. And I thought Muffs Mobilia was the new weekend weather chick-a-dee on 12? What's Shannon's weather role?

I hope Shannon's replacement isn't the guy that's currently in that slot. He has no finesse whatsoever!

Anything the wolf can do to better itself would be welcome. Whether it's US93.9 or 93.9 the Wolf... the only thing that changed was the name. They would have been better off making a total format change. How long can Johnny Marx continue to change stations when down deep he is a rocker at heart. Maybe Shannon can fix some of the issues. Let face it Erie needs an R&B, hip hop, classic hits, adult hits, jazz, fm sports/news, metal, disney, anything but a second country station. Country 98 & The Wolf play the same, but 98 does a much better job. It used to be said that 103.7 had an identity crisis. Now that can be said for 93.9. To the powers that be at the Boston Store change the format at 93.9 and give Erie listeners another choice of music to listen to.

The Wolf did change formats to a "top 40" of country by dropping the legends. Like how Star is top 40 pop. I have talked to several listeners who like the change. As an advertiser on the Wolf & other Connoissuer Stations, I am happy that Shannon is headed there but I was sad to see Carrie Leigh head to normal hours at Troyer farms.

Good for Shannon, a really nice man, and a very good radio broadcaster. Congratulations.
